Apple Blossom Rock and Roll

The cards I am sharing today were made with the Hostess stamp set "Apple Blossoms". I love the versatility of this set. On the first card, the stems were just stamped in Old Olive and So Saffron. Then one of my clients decided to try the "rock and roll" technique and everyone in my club loved it. So I am sharing both of the ideas with you. Hope you enjoy!

As you can see, they both look great and the Rock and Roll technique really adds to the card. I will provide the dimensions that were used later today.

Greenhouse Gala Tri-fold

I have a card share for you today. This card features the Greenhouse Gala Designer Paper and a Trifold design. I love the cheerfulness of the colors.

 

Here are the measurements and details for my card:

Layer One -- Pumpkin Pie(119939) -- cut (1) at 5 1/2" x 12". Score at 2", 4", 6", 8" and 10" but do not fold the card yet.

Layer Two -- Pear Pizazz(119795) -- cut (2) at 5 3/8" x 1 7/8"; cut (2) at 1 3/8" x 3 7/8"; cut (2) at 2 3/8" x 1 7/8".

Layer Two -- Greenhouse Gala DSP(117167) -- cut (4) at 1 3/8" x 1 7/8". I used the green flower print.

Layer Three -- Greenhouse Gala DSP -- cut (2) at 5 1/4" x 1 3/4"; cut (2) at 1 1/4" x 3 3/4". I used the flower print that contained the colors Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzaz.

Layer Three -- Daffodil Delight(119683) -- cut (1) 2 3/8" x 3 7/8"; cut (1) 2 1/4" x 1 3/4".

Layer Three -- Whisper White(100730) -- cut (1) 2 1/4" x 3 3/4"; cut (1) 2 1/4" x 1 3/4".

Now that you have all the pieces cut, layer them as you see on the sample except for the white. You want to stamp them first, then mount them. After you have the various layers in place, you can fold the valleys and mountains as indicated. I used markers (105115) and (119801) to stamp the flower with the stem on the smaller whisper white cardstock. Then I used dimensionals to mount it onto the Pear Pizzaz. Once mounted it is easy peasy to slip some ribbon under it and tie a simple knot. I used the new 1/8" Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon(119254). The greeting "Friends Never Fade" was stampin in classic Pumpkin Pie ink(105216). The accent flowers were stamped in classic Daffodil Delight(119667) and then I used the rock and roll technique to give some additional Pumpkin Pie color to the edges of the flowers. I cut the flowers and layerd them onto the card. When I cut the flowers, I cut into the petals so that I could raise a few petals to give a 3-D effect.

Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge!

This sketch is from a while ago when I was making some cards for a swap and decided to try my take on this sketh. If you ever get stumped for an idea and need a little help....find a sketch. I love the sketches that I find and this one is no exception. I found this a whole ago at Stamping 411. My card is not an exact duplicate, but this fine because the sketches can used for inspiration. I used the colors found in my choice of DSP and the bright colors are very appealing. I like the way the color combo turned out.

Here are the measurements and details for my card:

1. Layer One -- Only Orange (102837)cut at 5.5 x 8.5" -- score and fold in half to form your Card Base
2. Layer Two-- Ballet Blue cardstock (100613) cut at 5.25 x 4" -- Use your Big Shot (113439) and Perfect Details embossing template (115962) exclusive to Stampin'Up! to add some great embossing to your Ballet Blue layer.
3. Layer Three -- Pawsitively Prints DSP (118060) cut at 2 x 5.25" found in the Occasions Mini, page 40
4. Layer Four -- Only Orange cut at 3 x 2.75"
5. Layer Five -- Ballet Blue cut at 2 7/8 x 2 3/8". Layer this over the Only Orange. 
6. Layer Six -- 2.75 x 2.25" in Shimmery White (101910). The image is stamped with Basic Black Classic Ink (101179) and then colored with markers. I used Creamy Caramel (100078) for the bear, Only Orange (100051) for the shirt and Ballet Blue (100066) for the shorts and shoes. Add silver brads (104336) at each corner ...be sure to go through all three layers. Use Stampin Dimensionals (104430) to pop this onto the card front.
7. Layer Seven and Eight-- Punch a Scallop circle (109043) in Only Orange. Use the Designer Label Punch (107590) with Ballet Blue. Layer this over the scallop circle.
8. Layer Nine -- Using your Only Orange marker, color just the text "I (heart) you" on Shimmery White and punch it out using the 1" Circle Punch (109046). Layer this over the Designer Label. Add a dimensional to the back and adhere to the card front.
9. Slip your 5/8" Brocade Blue grograin (109057) behind the DSP and tie a knot.
10. Finally, add a piece of Shimmer White cut at 5.25 x 4" to the inside of the card and stamp what ever greeting you need.  You might want to stamp on the envelope to coordinate with your card.

I'm back!!

I've been away for so long I barely know where to start. Suffice it to say that I had a very difficult fall and winter with the loss of my precious mother and then having to deal with the holidays just after. But I am back and ready to get on with life.

I just this morning saw a post by Linda Hanson on her blog that had an awesome title "It's a wonderful life". We've heard that before haven't we?? I have to fully agree with her.

I have been working on various projects over the month of January and I will soon be posting those cards and projects to share with you so please come back to see what I have been up to.

Today I want to share with you a great photo that I took on the 24th at my youngest granddaughter's 2nd birthday. It got me all excited to do several scrapbook pages.

Now is that the cutest picture ever? Remember this is a grandma speaking. I just love that she had to put all her "bling" on as soon as she opened her package from me. Her little boa left feathers all over the downstairs. It might not last long, but it sure was worth the $5 investment I made. And all of her jewelry just finishes the look. She just loves it. Can you tell?

I can see this photo on a turquoise background page with pink photo mats and definitely some dazzling diamonds glitter. I'll have to work on the title some as I can envision several appropriate ones. I'm probably going to add some orange to the page, since it is her mom's favorite color and she is sure to get a dulpicate set from me for Maggie's scrapbook. I actually worked with pink, green and orange recently and they looked great together. So we shall see how the turquoise substitutes for green.

Well, I'm off to create something wonderful with stamps.

More card shares

Once again the cards that I am sharing with you today were actually created and stamped by sidelines and only have my designed by insignia for copyright purposes.

This first card was stamped by Ginny Smith. She uses the new stamp set Cirlce Circus and our new In-color Rich Razzleberry. I really like the combination of colors that she used on the Whisper White. Great card!!

  

This next card was stamped by Tina and she uses the stamp set Choo Choo to create a darling children's birthday card. The colors are cheerful - perfect for a child -  and I love the little elements she included, such as the slice of cake riding along on the train car, the railroad tracks beneath the train and the circles of smoke from the smoke stack.

 

The last card for today is another card by Tina, only this is a trading card. She uses the stamp set Cheep Talk. I really like what she did with the nest - from our wonderful punches. super idea.

Card Shares

 Although the following cards have my "created by" attached for copyright purposes, they were not stamped by me. But I thought they were great and wanted to share with you.

 

This card was created by my upline Becky Fredericks and she cased this card from Sandi MacIver. I just love it!! I love the way they accented the Asian Artistry grass in the foreground and the flowers with gold embossing. I also like the way they use Pocket Silhouettes to frame the view to the mountain scene beyond. Becky's mountains sure look a lot better than my pitiful attempt at this technique. You really get the feeling that you are looking through a gap in the trees.

 

This is a trading card that Becky created. Can you tell she is a cat lover? She uses the Pocket Silhouettes once again behind her cat which is from the stamp set C is For Cat and she embossed the cat to give great dimension to this card.

 

This card was created by my second level upline, Kathy Wayson. She always puts a lot of detail into her cards and she specializes in cards that are NOT 4 1/4 X 5 1/2. She uses some new desigener paper and the wonderful new stamp set Autumn Days with her stamping. I can see why everyone loves this Pheasant!! Love the Hodgepodge Hardware and the punching in the corners.

 

This trading card created by Kathy would be a perfect substitution for the front of her square card. I love the way she emphasized the spray of leaves from the stamp set Paradise by cutting one image out and then poppinng it above the one below - just slightly canted. Great job!!

The Royal Blog Tour

The stamp set that I will be sharing with you today is FALLING LEAVES. Fall is one of my favorite times of year and this stamp set puts me in the mood for countryside rides to see all the leaves turning from green to various shades of reds, yellows, oranges and etc. You get the picture!

My first card features the technique of ROCK AND ROLL. It is a bit tricky to do this technique with such small images, but I liked the way they turned out.  I have used the new In-color Dusty Durango, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede colors for most of my cards today. Have to play with the new colors! The base of the card is Soft Suede. I stamped the images on Very Vanilla and used a variety of the colors with the rock and roll technique. I popped the Happy Thanksgiving greeting with dimensionals to give a bit of depth and I also cut out several leaves and popped them as well for more dimension. I added a bit of linen thread to the circle punches and used the new polka dot grosgrain ribbon in Crushed Curry to finish this card.

My second card uses the technique SERIGRAPH. It has been a long time since I used this technique but it has always been a favorite of mine. The small shapes and fairly solid images of this stamp set lend themselves to this technique. I have chosen a combination of 4 colors, So Saffron, Orchid Opulence (my lighter color selections) and Rich Razzleberry and Crushed Curry as my darker colors. Once I brayered the 2 lighter colors, I stamped the various leaves with Versamark and then embossed with White embossing powder. Then the darker colors were brayered over the the cardstock. Remember to  wipe the cardstock when you finish this technique to remove any excess ink which has been brayered over top of the embossed images. To finish the technique, I stamped a few leaves in Rich Razzleberry. I made this card into a gatefold card. My "Grateful" greeting was stamped, punched with the scallop oval punch and and then layered on a large oval punch and popped. A bit of Rich Razzleberry polka dot ribbon finshes the card.

My final card uses punches to highlight the stamped images. I began with a cardfront of Always Artichoke that had been run through the bigshot with our new embossing templates and layered it on a base of Crushed Curry with Dusty Durango sandwiched in between.Very Vanilla squares were punched with the small square punch and mounted on Dusty Durango squares punched with the large square punch. These finished squares were arranged on the card front in a diamond pattern that emulates the lovely diamond pattern on the embossing. I added a few windings of linen thread and a verse for a finishing touch.

Do you like Bling??

Oh my, then you are going to love the items I am going to share with you today. This stamp set is PLAYFUL PETALS. I stamped the images on Rose Red or Certainly Celery using White Craft Ink. Then I embossed them with Detail Gold embossing powder. I used a fine point tip to apply glue to the images - be sure to not fill each area completely. Then I used the fine glitter series. Once dried, I cut out each image and then used Dimensionals to put the layers together.

 

Don't they look gorgeous. I made the medium sized  flower with three layers into some pins. They look great!! They catch the light just right when you wear them. I think I will be making some of these to swap at convention. This is actually a set of card candy that I will be swapping at a pre-set swap at convention. I sure hope everyone loves glitter like I do!!

This next little guy is ready to usher in Fall. He is not my design, but I have updated him using the Big Shot. I ran the straw hat through the Big Shot after using the template that looks like tree bark. I used the brayer to roll Creamy Caramel ink on the embossing template and then ran the More Mustard card stock through the Big Shot. Since we no longer carry the 1/8 inch circle punch, I used the larger hole on the Crop-O-Dile to punch the eyes. First I punched the pupil with the 1/16" hand held hole punch and then lined up the Crop-O-Dile to punch each eyeball. A black marker gives him some nostrils. Run Natural Hemp Twine through Black Craft Ink and let it dry. You can then give him some long legs and his feet are one of the flowers on the Boho Blossoms flower punch. I used Itty Bitty backgrounds stamps to give him some spots using Versamark and Clear Embossing Powder. Isn't he just the cutest thing?
